Greetings!

Marriage Amendment Education:

The following referendum will appear on the voter's ballot on May 8th, 2012, and North Carolinians will determine whether or not the following definition of marriage is written into the state constitution:

"Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State. This section does not prohibit a private party from entering into contracts with another private party; nor does this section prohibit courts from adjudicating the rights of private parties pursuant to such contracts."

We encourage our members and families to vote FOR  the amendment in support of God's design for families and marriages.

We'll send out several informative  updates as we approach the vote date. It is imperative that we educate ourselves about  current events. These updates are intended  to strengthen our marriages and families, not to engage in political stances or conflicts with those who disagree with God's designs for families and marriages.

Please don't accept anyone's opinion or statements (particularly from the media) as factual. Examine the issues and the evidence for yourself. We have included several links for you to educate yourself on these important issues of our time. Check it yourself!

Sincerely,
Education Pastor Randall Floyd

Myths about the Marriage Amendment
The issues and arguments presented by those who oppose the Marriage Amendment are most likely based on emotional and personal reactions rather than facts.

Myth: "The Marriage Amendment will take away rights from Homosexual citizens"
Truth: The Amendment Does Not Take Away Rights:

- Homosexuals have a right to live as they choose; they don't have a right to redefine marriage for the rest of us.
- Homosexual couples can still engage in private commitment ceremonies and engage in private adult consensual sexual conduct.
- There is no right to marry someone of the same sex, just as there is no right to marry your sister, to marry someone who is under 14 years old, to marry your pet, or to marry more than one person.
