One last chance to register to vote!

Because of a change in the law, it is now possible to register and vote at the same time, at the "early voting" sites, now through Saturday, November 1st.  So if anyone you know missed the October 10th voter registration deadline, it is not too late for them to register and vote.

The Wake Co. BOE has good, clear information about this, here:  http://www.wakegov.com/elections/onestop/default.htm
(Click on the link in the 4th bullet-point, entitled "Qualified voters can register and vote at the same time.")

The State BOE web site is also useful:  http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/items.aspx?id=5&s=5

If someone was not previously registered to vote, or if they moved between counties and did not register by Oct. 10, 2008 Oct. 8, 2010 then "early voting" with same-day registration is the only way that they can still vote.

However, if someone moved within the same county, and didn't get around to updating their voter registration, they can still vote either way: They can use "early voting," or they can vote on the regular November 4 election day.  If they vote on Nov. 4, they can go to the correct/new polling place, tell the folks there that they moved within the same County, and vote a provisional ballot; rr, they can first go to the old/incorrect polling place, tell the folks there that they moved, and obtain a "transfer" form; they'll then be told where their new polling place, and they will be able to vote a regular (non-provisional) ballot there.
