Carmen's Picks

Because many of you know that I am a political junkie and have the same values that you do, you ask each election for my picks (especially down ticket- to candidates you may not know as much about).    Here is a little about what I believe so you know where I am coming from.

I believe life begins at conception. I am horrified at partial birth abortion and infanticide.

I believe in a strong military and peace thru strength.  BTW- The surge did work and Countries being invaded should not show restraint.

I am pro-choice when it comes to education.

I believe in smaller government and less government involvement.

I am pro-gun and believe guns make us safer not the other way around.

I believe judges should interpret the law not be legislators.

I believe in expansion of domestic energy including drilling and more nuclear plants is a must for our security.

I believe in capitalism not socialism – not spreading the wealth.  I do believe in helping those who truly cannot help themselves.

I believe there is way too much corruption and wasteful spending in government that needs to be taken control of.

Therefore;

I voted for McCain/Palin then I voted Straight ticket Republican EXCEPT I DID NOT vote for Cherri Berry for Commissioner of Labor and Richard Morgan for Department of Public Instruction.

For judges- take this list with you!

Supreme Court:
Robert H. (Bob) Edmunds, Jr.

Court of Appeals:
Jewel Ann Farlow
Doug McCullough
Dan Barrett
Robert N. (Bob) Hunter, Jr.

District Court 11:
GARY W. RAGLAND
JACKIE LEE  (unopposed)
PAUL A. HOLCOMBE

Note: If I were in the Broadway/Carolina Trace District, I would vote for Amy Dalrymple for County Commissioner.  She’s a Democrat.

If you live in a different area, please let me know and I will send you a list of county commissioners and judges in your area.
